Somizi And Bonang’s Former TV Producer Legend Manqele In R4million Debt

TV producer Nkululeko “Legend” Manqele allegedly owes Gauteng-based entertainment communications marketing agency more than R3 million.

Levergy Marketing Agency has revealed that they mistakenly paid R4 094 149 into his account for services rendered in 2019.

It is reported that Legend and the agency had an agreement that he was to repay the money with interest by November 2019.

“I, the undersigned, Legend Manqele, being duly authorised by and representing the BarLeader TV cc, do hereby acknowledge that the company is truly, lawfully and unconditionally indebted to Levergy Marketing Agency (Pty) Ltd in the sum of R4 094 149 (the capital sum) as at the date hereof, together with interest thereon at the maximum permissible legal rate.”

The agency obtained a high court order to deduct debit orders and reached out to the producer’s business associates on Monday after he failed to make capital.

The court order reads:

“Our client has been frustrated in all efforts to execute the order, specifically in that the debtors have … changed the status of the close corporation in question to a (Pty) Ltd … [They have also] not allowed the Sheriff access to [their] residential estates … [They have] moved offices on more than one occasion, yet failed to update that on the company’s stationery, as is mandatory in terms of the Companies Act. [Manqele has also] instructed persons, including his mother, to mislead the Sheriff and has ignored further attempts to amicably resolve this matter.”

Manqele did not oppose the application and has accused the agency of trying to sensationalise the matter.

“On December 13 2021, we were informed by another publication that Levergy’s lawyers had sent them letters which they’d written to me. This is highly questionable and it’s sad that even lawyers want to behave as tabloid sources.”

He also added that they’ve sent the lawyers an email requesting an explanation for their conduct, but none has come.

It’s clear that the intention is to have this play out in the tabloids, which is regrettable.
